RAG PLAIDS 2018:

in cooperation with Miriam Meyer

Traditionally, rag rugs are woven with old, worn out fabric stripes. Mostly, rag rugs are heavy and very stable.

The Rag Plaids however are woven on thinner and less dense cotton warp yarns. The fabrics are cut / torn into thinner stripes and then woven. This creates a less dense and more light quality, suiting more as a blanket or a plaid than a rug. Two plaids (width: 70cm) are sewn together to create a broader plaid.

The size of the plaids is mostly 130cm x 200cm and the weight is less than 1 kg.

The material for the weft were leftovers from the fashion industry of Berlin, thus we recycled material which was not needed anymore.

By different means of finishing the borders like braiding, knotting and sewing we obtained different variations of this product.

Materials: cotton, linen, silk, viscose
