ABOUT

Christina Klessmann is textile designer and hand weaver.
After studying Textile Design in Krefeld, Berlin and Paris, she worked at the Institute of Textile and Fashion Design at the University of the Arts Berlin for 12 years. After an apprenticeship as hand weaver she founded her weaving and textile design studio in Berlin-Charlottenburg.

With a norwegian father, she is very familiar with the Scandinavian craft traditions. In summer, she loves to weave and dye in her summer  house in the south of Sweden.

STUDIO

Today, handwoven textiles possess a luxurious and authentic look. They prove the slowness and perfection of the production process and the love to this handcraft. I always loved to work with my hands and I am inspired by nature, Scandinavian design and non-european textile cultures.

For my handwoven products, I use nearly only natural yarns such as sheep wool, linen, silk and cotton, and also paper, metal and other special and functional yarns.

My design development is based on research, the intertwining of diverse materials, hand dyeing and artisanal techniques. In my studio in Berlin, I weave everyday textiles in small editions, one of a kind textiles and commissioned works for artists, fashion designers, private persons and film productions.
